The Environment

Our business is totally reliant on the natural environment.  It provides the basis for everything we do, without the inspiring and beautiful natural landscapes that exist around us, our events could not exist. With this in mind we are acutely aware  of our responsibility for ensuring that our events are sustainable and carefully managed . We aim to have a close to zero, or where possible, a positive environmental impact on the landscapes we encounter.

Only by going out and getting active in the outdoors out do we learn to appreciate what an essential resource our open spaces are, and what an increasingly important role they have to play in our physical and spiritual wellbeing. It is our strong belief that by providing people of all levels of fitness and experience the opportunity to challenge themselves in the great outdoors, we are positively contributing to society and the preservation of our natural heritage.

By encouraging more people to be active in the outdoors we are helping to reinforce the essential educational message that fresh air and exercise are good for you. There is irrefutable evidence that rigorous exercise in the outdoors produces happier, healthier, less materialistic and better balanced people. This can only be good for society and the planet.

Endurancelife to Support the National Trust Neptune Campaign

The National Trust’s Neptune Coastline Campaign

The National Trust’s Neptune Coastline Campaign was set up in 1965 to protect, conserve and provide access to our coast for future generations.

The National Trust own 716 kilometres of coastline in the South West which represents 63% of all UK coastline owned by the National Trust. With this ownership comes a great deal of responsibility and whilst acquisition remains important, maintenance and refurbishment of coast paths and properties is now a priority.Generous donations to the Neptune fund make this possible.

For every stage of the Coastal Trail Series that you enter Endurancelife will make a donation to the National Trust’s Neptune Campaign. This campaign was set up in 1965 to protect, conserve and provide access to our coast for future generations.

We have decided to support the National Trust’s Neptune campaign because as a company, we are committed to protecting our natural environments so that they can be enjoyed by all, now and in the future. All of the CTS routes cover National Trust land at some point.Without the National Trust, these paths would most likely be of a poor standard (if they existed at all), or land would be privately owned and Endurancelife events would not be able to take place.

We have set a fundraising target of £30,000 for the 2010 Coastal Trail Series.

Please help us to support the maintenance of the coastline so that it can continue to be enjoyed by trail runners and everyone else in years to come. If you would like to join us in supporting the Neptune Fund please make a voluntary contribution (no matter how small) when you book your CTS2010 place.

The National Trust

The NT now has 3.5 million members and 52,000 volunteers who gave 2.3 million hours in 2007/08. More than 12 million people visit their pay for entry properties, while an estimated 50 million visit the open air properties.

The NT protects and opens to the public over 300 historic houses and gardens and 49 industrial monuments and mills.

But it doesn’t stop there. The NT  looks after forests, woods, fens, beaches, farmland, downs, moorland, islands, archaeological remains, castles, nature reserves, villages - for ever, for everyone.

Foot & Mouth Disease & TB Update

With the unfortunate periodic reoccurrences of Foot and Mouth and TB in the British countryside we ask all our participants to do their bit before coming to our events.

As a precautionary measure, we would appreciate it if all participants clean and preferably disinfect their footwear prior to arrival at the event location. This is of particular significance to those travelling from recently affected areas or counties. Although these measures are not presently requirements of DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs), we see it as a sensible preventative measure and at the very least, an act of courtesy to the local farmers and land owners. For more information on the current situation please visit; http://www.defra.gov.uk/footandmouth/.

Thanks for your cooperation. Let's hope Foot and Mouth Disease and TB are one day finally put to rest.

Thanks for an excellent and weekend! The event is now very clearly and notably a highly professional and slick affair. Its come a good long way in just a very few years. All elements of the weekend jaunt were simply effortless for the contenders. And this is what makes the fee worth every penny and the few days, as I say, about as relaxing as 140 miles by human power can be. As with all things of such ilk, the people make the difference and your ever-increasing professionalism and indefatigable ability to smile at us unfit imbeciles is remarkable. Devon is AWESOME.
