Hi #fname#,

I hope you are well and training is going to plan!

Update

We have made some important changes to your event:

- The event site (start / finish) for this event has been moved to: Kilcrohane.

- The route has been altered and will now be 40 miles / 65 km.

When we first announced this event more than two years ago, it was planned as a 40-mile route. We then extended it to 50 miles, but after further consideration, we’re now reverting to the original 40-mile distance (more details on why we have made this decision below).

Many of you will welcome the slightly shorter distance, while others who had set their sights on the full 50 miles may be less enthused. We are very conscious of this.

Don’t assume this will be an easier challenge—because we've removed proportionally more flat road miles, the new course remains just as tough, if not slightly harder per mile. Overall we’re confident that these changes will result in a better overall experience for you.

Here’s a quick before & after breakdown of the key updates:

Previous Event

- 50-mile single loop
- 17% on road
- Navigation by GPX only
- Outdoor event site (marquee etc)
- Approx. 7,200 ft ascent

Updated Event

- 40-mile route (two laps of 20 miles)
- 14% on road
- Fully waymarked – no GPX required.
- Hard standing indoor event HQ
- Approx. 6500 ft ascent

The event webpage and participant manual now reflect these changes.

Why the change?

We have made these improvements for three key reasons:

1. Better Trails, Less Tarmac – The western side of the peninsula offers significantly superior trails, so we’ve focused the route here.

2. Easier Navigation, More Flowing Running – With a shorter route, we can fully waymark the course. No more tripping up while you are looking down at your watch!

3. More Weatherproof & Reliable – After last April's cancellation due to high winds and rain, we’ve made the event more resilient. With a better-located, hard-standing event HQ and a more compact course, the risk of disruption from Atlantic storms is now significantly lower.

FAQs – Your Key Questions Answered

Q. I’ve already booked accommodation in Bantry and I'm using public transport to get to the event – how do I get to the new start?

A. If there is enough demand we will offer bus transport to and from the event from Bantry on event day (about 25 minutes journey time). If this would be helpful to you, please complete this short form in the next 48 hrs which will help us get a feel for demand.

Q. I don’t want to do the event anymore – can I withdraw?

A. Yes. If you log into your Endurancelife account within the next 7 days, you can a) move to a different event we offer free of charge or b) remove yourself from the event and receive a full refund (less a £10 admin fee). Please note that, as per the event terms, we reserve the right to make reasonable course adjustments - however, we are happy to refund you this admin fee but you will need to email us and request this after you have removed yourself from the event.

To action either of these options: log in to your online account > select the event > click "Booking Changes". (Only the person who originally purchased the entry can action these options).

Q. Can I just do one loop (20 miles) instead of two?

A. Not this year – but we may introduce a shorter option in future editions!

Q. Has the mandatory kit list changed?

A. Yes, slightly – mostly making things easier for you. The updated participant manual is available (please check it out for full details!).

Thanks!

We are sorry for these relatively last-minute changes but we are incredibly excited for this 100 entrant, sold-out, inaugural event and can’t wait to see you on the start line alongside other trail runners from Ireland, the UK, the USA, Canada, France, Italy, Poland and Sweden!

If you have any further questions, just drop us a message at [email protected].

What's next? In two weeks, we will send you an email asking you to check-in. During check-in, we'll confirm key details with you, including your recent health history and emergency contact information.

With best wishes,

James & the Endurancelife Team
